Whittier Wood

Why Whittier?

For over four decades, the Whittier family has manufactured heritage-quality real wood furniture for three consecutive generations. As it was in the beginning, we use Old World construction, attractive styling, and precise attention to detail to build each piece of Whittier furniture. These exacting standards are also the foundation of our business practices. Everything we do, from our relationship with our top-quality hardware supplier to how we use certified sustainable American Alder honors the uncompromising integrity and honesty that started with our founder Gordon Whittier.

Our Facilities

We own and operate two facilities, so each step of our operations is performed in-house. This gives us complete control over manufacturing and quality. Our company headquarters, production, and distribution centers are located in Eugene, Oregon. Our additional production facility in Vietnam includes state of the art machinery and finishing equipment. Our staff is professional and well-trained.

Our Products

Our products are made from solid wood or plywood. No particleboard or MDF (medium-density fiberboard) is used. We work with American Alder because of its fine close grain and smooth texture. Alder is called "the great imitator" because when finished, it can resemble more expensive hardwoods. Alder is beautiful, durable, and versatile.

Sustainable Materials

American Alder is a native Pacific Northwest hardwood. Our Alder products are made from Alder certified to the international standard Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC). For more information on the PEFC program, please visit www.pefc.org.

Superior Construction

All Whittier products include the same superior construction features: English dovetail drawers, mortise & tenon and fluted dowel joinery, metal ball-bearing drawer slides, and a durable pre-catalyzed finish. For lasting durability, our furniture is always wood and only wood. None of the Whittier products contains engineered wood composite.
